Someone Like You

It's 3 A.M.
And i lie sleepless in my bed, turning and tossing
As a quagmire of confusing thoughts engulf me.
And suddenly, amongst this chaos
I'm thrown back to my past.
I look up at the moon alone in the sky,
Staring without seeing
As faces from long ago conjure up in my mind
And amidst those myraid faces
A single face looms up
Like a song long forgotten.
A face that had turned my world upside down
As i had embarked on a journey,
Oblivious of the consequences.
A face i had craved for,pined for,cried for,
What had i found in that face?

The warmth of winter sunshine,
the joy of desert rain,
the suspense of pine woods,
The purity of untrodden snow,
The mischief of autumn clouds,
The redolence of jasmine,
The gambol of a swift,
The placidity of a lake,
The sensuality of a rose,
The  glancing of a doe,
The quivering of leaves,
The shiver of grass,
 The chill of mountain air,
The thrill of a sunset,
The sorrow of rain clouds,
The lonliness of moon,
The delicacy of a tuft,
The dazzle of ruby
The resplendence of diamond.

The black tassels of her hair,
Like curls of the night
Held my heart in twining embrace,
Leaving its indelible marks.
Flowing in profuse strands
In random strokes of inexpleciable art.

The vine red  colour of her lips
Against the backdrop of flawless white skin,
Like a rose against misty landscape,
Beckonig me to indulge!
Swimming past all barriers
Only to drawn in an ocean of pleasures.

Her unblemished eyelids
Were the black wisps of the night,
The enigma of their beauty
Enthralling me.

And can i ever forget those eyes?
Eyes like the starlight of midnight,
So darkly beautiful
So deeply bright
Singing their own unchanged melody.
Beauty is more intoxicating than wine,
It intoxicates both the holder and the beholder.

The breeze flutters in through the open window,
The first rays of the sun strike the eastern horizon.
heralding a new day,
With new hopes and new promises.
All codes have been severed
But the magic remains,
It will return with the night
To enchant me in my dreams.

Where have all those years gone?
Why ain't she still with me?
I know her answer:
For half of everything is luck,
And the other half ........
